Matt moved to Chicago in 2005 to attend North Park University, and he graduated with a B.S. in Finance. After working in finance for two years, he transitioned to seminary at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School where he received a Masters in Theological Studies in 2014.
In 2012, he met his wife, Lauren, and they have been married for five years. Lauren is an academic librarian at Triton College in River Grove, Illinois. In 2018, their family grew by +1 after their son Asher was born.
Lauren and Matt’s ministry at Village is marked by a shared love for Chicago, cultivated over the years they have worked, studied, and served in this city. They share a common passion for seeing lives transformed by the hope of Jesus.
Luke is originally from Columbus, Ohio, where he grew up with his four brothers. He came to Chicago in order to study at The Moody Bible Institute, where he received a degree in pastoral ministry.
He began attending Village Church early on while he was a student and joined the pastoral team after graduating from his studies in 2018. He loves the people of this city and believes in the importance of the Church serving those around them.
Luke has a passion for stories and helping others connect their lives to the story of God’s love. He desires to have his ministry marked by creativity and beauty that highlight Jesus.
"Cylas is originally from the small farm town of Greenville, OH. He came to Chicago in 2016 after working with the missions organization YWAM, where he developed a desire for studying scripture that led him to begin his studies at Moody Bible Institute. He is currently finishing up his undergraduate in Theology.
Cylas began attending Village early on in his studies and very soon after married the love of his life, Mackenzie, in the winter of 2017. Mackenzie is finishing up her Communications\Bible undergraduate at moody as well, and is currently working at Moody Publishers.
Following in the vision cast by Village Church, Mackenzie and Cylas desire to see Ukrainian village and the surrounding Chicago area transformed by the love of Christ. Their desire is to see this community begin to support and love one another in a way that resembles a family. Cylas personally has a dedication to Bible centered, God fearing worship, that does not simply raise the emotion of the congregation but actually prepares and centers them to hear and be transformed by the Word of God."
